Kathmandu- A large number of US military aircraft have been deployed at airports in Israel. According to various international media outlets, the presence of American fighter jets and mid-air refueling tankers has even begun affecting routine commercial flights. Dozens of US military aircraft are currently stationed at Ben Gurion Airport and Ramon Airport. It has been reported that even after a ceasefire was declared with Iran, these aircraft remain in Israel, with no immediate signs of them being withdrawn.
Although a state of tension and attack risks persists between the US and Iran, efforts for dialogue are reportedly still underway. Both nations are seeking potential understandings through mediators; however, no significant agreement has materialized so far.
In Tehran, expectations have risen that some form of understanding could be reached between the United States and Iran. Driven by this anticipation, the Iranian currency has reportedly seen an increase of more than 5 percent in value this week.
The risk of war, American pressure, and port blockades have severely impacted Iran’s economy. A businessman in Tehran expressed growing concerns over market supplies, stating that prices fluctuate constantly and many electronic goods are no longer as easily available as before.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, Iran is preparing for a potential new war. Concluding that Washington cannot be trusted, Tehran reportedly views the Strait of Hormuz as its most critical strategic weapon.
The report notes that Iranian officials are currently active on three fronts: military preparedness, strengthening domestic support, and diplomatic initiatives. While the door to negotiations remains open, the military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been placed on high alert.
Iran has long considered the Strait of Hormuz the cornerstone of its strategic leverage. Since a massive volume of the world’s oil is transported through this maritime route, Tehran views it as an effective means to exert pressure on the US and its allies.
The Iranian leadership has warned that if a new conflict arises, American military bases, energy infrastructure, and related interests could become targets. A few days ago, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also warned that any new attack from the US would meet a response far more violent than before, with repercussions felt well beyond the Middle East.
