Kathmandu . Ncell has made history by becoming the first telecommunications company in Nepal to sign the GSMA’s Principles for Driving the Digital Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, solidifying its commitment to promoting accessibility and inclusivity in the digital space.
The GSMA, a global association representing mobile network operators, provides a framework through its principles to guide telcos in bridging the digital divide for persons with disabilities. By joining this global initiative, Ncell affirms its dedication to ensuring equal access to mobile and digital services for all.
This landmark move builds on Ncell’s previous efforts, such as offering a 50% data discount for persons with disabilities under the Sadhain ON plan, developing disability-friendly infrastructure at customer care centers, and supporting Nepal’s para-athletes.
“At Ncell, we are not just enabling connectivity—we are empowering lives,” said Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Director of Ncell Foundation and Special Projects. “By committing to the GSMA’s principles, we are ensuring that no one is left behind in Nepal’s digital future.”
As part of its pledge, Ncell will integrate accessibility into its core strategies, co-create inclusive products and services, and actively collaborate with the disability community to better serve their needs.
This initiative positions Ncell alongside leading global telecom operators working to close the mobile disability gap and foster an inclusive digital society.
