Pokhara Metropolitan City has announced an annual budget of Rs 8.35 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 BS. The budget was presented by Deputy Mayor Manju Devi Gurung during the 17th municipal assembly held on Sunday.
According to Deputy Mayor Gurung, the metropolis anticipates receiving Rs 3.13 billion through federal conditional grants, Rs 330.08 million via federal revenue sharing, and Rs 528.7 million from federal equalization grants. Additionally, the city expects to collect Rs 0.815 million under province equalization grants.
The internal revenue of the metropolitan city is projected at Rs 5.22 billion. Furthermore, Rs 1.1 billion is expected from local revenue sharing and Rs 32.8 million from provincial revenue sharing.
The newly announced budget prioritizes the development of green, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure. It also places a strong focus on promoting tourism, which is a vital sector for the city’s economy.
Other key focus areas include environmental conservation, solid waste management, balanced and inclusive development, institutional capacity enhancement, good governance, and the delivery of quality public services.
The budget proposal reflects Pokhara’s commitment to sustainable growth and improved service delivery while strengthening its financial independence and administrative efficiency.
