kathmandu – Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has filed a petition at the Butwal bench of the High Court Tulsipur, challenging a decision by the Rupandehi District Court.
Lamichhane approached the high court after the district court rejected his request to be released by depositing a bail amount equivalent to Rs. 27.48 million, the amount linked to his alleged responsibility in the Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperative fraud case.
His legal team formally registered the petition at the Butwal bench, seeking a reversal of the district court’s decision. Earlier, on Shrawan 26, a bench led by Judge Narayan Prasad Sapkota at Rupandehi District Court had denied Lamichhane’s request to be released on bank guarantee, effectively keeping him in custody.
Lamichhane has been in judicial custody since Chaitra 22 as per the earlier order issued by the same High Court bench in connection with the ongoing investigation into the cooperative fraud case.
