Kathmandu – In response to the landslide that has blocked the Narayangadh–Muglin road section, Nepal Police has started a free bus service for stranded passengers.
The landslide, which occurred near Tui Khola, has disrupted travel since Tuesday, leaving hundreds of passengers stuck on both sides of the road.
According to police, the free transportation service has been operating for the past two days using two buses from the Police School in Shantipur. The buses are ferrying passengers from the landslide-affected area near Paach Kilo to Bharatpur.
The initiative specifically targets those who have been forced to walk long distances due to the road closure. After initial trips directly from the landslide site, authorities have now designated Paach Kilo as the pickup point. Passengers gather there, and local police coordinate the bus dispatch accordingly.
The disruption has caused significant difficulties for travelers, many of whom were on their way to their hometowns to celebrate Dashain. With recurring landslides still affecting the area, clearing work has been challenging. Authorities estimate that the road may be cleared by Friday, depending on weather conditions and the frequency of further slides.
Earlier, a similar landslide last Friday had temporarily been cleared, but another major slide on Tuesday again blocked the route. Efforts to remove the debris resumed early this morning and are ongoing.
