Kathmandu — Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, best known for his iconic portrayal of Karn in the epic TV series Mahabharat, has passed away at the age of 68.
His death occurred on Wednesday in Mumbai after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dheer had previously defeated the disease, but unfortunately, it returned in recent months.
The news of his passing has left the entertainment world in mourning. Actor Nitish Bharadwaj, who played Krishna in Mahabharat, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media. Posting a picture of Dheer, he wrote, “One day we all must leave this world, but what matters most is how we live, earning love and respect from the world.
The Mahabharat team has lost another gem a sensitive, strong personality, with a fantastic sense of humor and a heart of gold. The first ‘angry young man’ of Indian literary heritage is no longer with us. We pray for his soul’s peace and liberation.”
