A devastating suicide bomb attack rocked Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on Friday, resulting in at least 31 deaths and leaving more than 160 people injured. According to official reports, the attack targeted the Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Tarlai area. Authorities have identified the perpetrator as a terrorist linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij group. The assailant reportedly opened fire at the entrance after being intercepted by security and subsequently forced his way inside, detonating the explosives during prayer services.
In the aftermath of the blast, security forces cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue operations. The wounded were rushed to various hospitals across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where a state of emergency has been declared to handle the high volume of casualties.
