Kathmandu – North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has deployed 50 new rocket launchers during a military display. These launchers are capable of launching short-range missiles, with some believed to have the ability to carry nuclear warheads, as noted in international analysis. This move is being seen as a serious security challenge for South Korea. According to North Korean state media, the new launchers were publicly showcased during a special ceremony. This step comes ahead of the ruling party’s upcoming congress, where Kim is expected to announce new plans to further strengthen military capabilities.
The new launchers are linked to a 600-millimeter multiple rocket system. It is claimed that modern guidance technology and AI-based systems have been integrated into the launchers. Experts have noted that the system is similar in nature to the technology between traditional artillery and ballistic missiles. Analysts suggest that this system may have been developed with the intent to evade South Korea’s missile defense systems.
Meanwhile, Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, claimed that a South Korean minister apologized for the alleged intrusion of an unmanned aerial vehicle. She warned that North Korea would tighten border security and would respond with force if such activities were repeated. Since the failed nuclear talks between the U.S. and North Korea in 2019, relations between the two Koreas have remained tense. In recent years, Kim Jong Un has abandoned the policy of “peaceful reunification” and has formally declared South Korea as a hostile nation.
