Pakistan has announced that it carried out an attack on seven terrorist hideouts and camps in the Afghanistan border region. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the operation targeted bases associated with Pakistani Taliban groups, their allies, and the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP). Pakistan claims that this action was a response to recent suicide attacks within the country, which were allegedly directed by leaders and handlers based in Afghanistan. The government also stated that despite repeated requests to the Taliban administration in Afghanistan to prevent such activities, no concrete actions had been taken.
In response, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid accused the Pakistani military of violating Afghanistan’s border. He claimed that the bombing in the Nangarhar and Paktika provinces resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of innocent civilians, including women and children. Following the exchange of accusations, tensions along the border have significantly increased.
