Lalitpur: The Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), in collaboration with Nepal in Business – Growth Advisors (NiB-GA/DAI), organised a policy workshop on women’s entrepreneurship on November 4, 2026, at Square Hotel, Lalitpur.
The workshop, titled “Policy Implementation Review and Parliamentary Action Agenda on Women’s Entrepreneurship,” brought together Members of Parliament, government representatives, women entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to assess the implementation of existing policies and identify areas requiring legal, regulatory and institutional reforms.
The discussions focused on major challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including limited access to finance and credit, complex business registration procedures, regulatory barriers, inadequate market access, limited business development services and weak institutional coordination.
The programme was chaired by FWEAN President Darshana Shrestha, with Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dipak Kumar Shah attending as the chief guest. Dr. Pukar Malla, Member of the National Planning Commission, and several Members of Parliament attended as special guests.
The participating lawmakers included Vidushi Rana, Anushka Shrestha, Geeta Gurung, Ganga Chhantyal, Bhumika Shrestha, Ganga Laxmi Awal and Sushma Swarnakar. Lalitpur Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya also attended the programme.
During the workshop, the minister and participating lawmakers expressed their commitment to promoting women’s entrepreneurship through policy reforms, stronger institutional collaboration and initiatives to address the challenges facing women-led businesses.
They emphasised the need to translate policy commitments into practical action and strengthen parliamentary and government support for women entrepreneurs.
A presentation on policy and legal reform analysis was delivered by consultant Dr. Sanjay Gorkhali, highlighting areas requiring policy intervention and institutional improvements.
FWEAN First Vice-President Sunita Vaidya Shrestha delivered the vote of thanks, while General Secretary Sabita Subedi coordinated the programme as its master of ceremonies.
The workshop aimed to develop practical policy recommendations, strengthen parliamentary engagement and establish a Parliamentary Action Agenda alongside a policy reform roadmap to address persistent barriers to women’s entrepreneurship.
Through the initiative, FWEAN seeks to bridge the gap between policy commitments and effective implementation by promoting institutional accountability and coordinated action. The initiative is also expected to contribute to creating a more enabling environment for women-led enterprises and supporting inclusive economic growth in Nepal.
