Kimathanka, March 29
The construction work of the Chhyangkuti-Pukhuwa road section, the entrance of the 900 megawatt Arun-III hydropower project being developed in Sankhuwasabha district, remains disrupted for the past seven days following protests by the local landowners.
The locals along the Chhyangkuti-Pukhuwa road section are protesting against the lack of compensation for their land.
Chairman of the struggle committee Harka Singh Rai said the locals have disrupted the construction works of the powerhouse of the Arun-III project and the entrance route.
According to Rai, they were forced to stage protests as they were not given compensation for their land plots for three years.
Rai claimed that the project now attained 30 meters of land by providing compensation for just 15 meters of their land.
The locals have staged protests by disrupting the construction works of the powerhouse.
Some 200 households in the area have complained that they have not received compensation for their land acquired for the project.
