Kathmandu: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has expressed that festival like Tamu Lhosar reinforces cultural values.
Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of Lhosar festival, celebrated with fanfare by the Gurung community in Nepal today, Vice President Yadav reminded the indigenous culture of worshipping Gods, gathering and rejoicing with exchanges of greeting among the Tamu/Gurung people on this occasion.
“The festival is also for spiritual awakening and holy practices that further bolster religious and cultural values,” he added.
The Vice President also extended best wishes on the occasion of Tolh Lhosar which is being celebrated next day in the mountainous belts of Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Manang and Jumla districts. Tolh Lhosar is also observed as a New Year.
“Our festivals are reflection of indigenous cultures and customs that enliven and cement cultural diversity. Time has come to link such festivals to tourism,” Vice President Yadav underlined.
