Maruti Suzuki has achieved a significant milestone by producing more than 2 million vehicles in a calendar year for the first time in its history. This achievement marks a first for any car manufacturer in India. Maruti Suzuki is also the first among Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global automobile production facilities to reach this milestone.
According to the company, the 2 millionth vehicle to roll off the production line in Manesar was an Ertiga. Of the 2 million vehicles produced, 60% were manufactured in Haryana and 40% in Gujarat. Popular models like the Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR, and Brezza were among the top 5 best-selling vehicles produced in 2024.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki has three production units in India, with a combined annual production capacity of 2.35 million units. The company plans to expand this capacity to 4 million units.
To meet the growing demand, Maruti is also constructing a new facility in Kharkhoda, which is expected to start operations in 2025. Once fully operational, this plant will have an annual production capacity of 1 million units. Additionally, the company is planning to build another plant with a similar production capacity of 1 million units.
