The Nepal Automobile Association (NASA Nepal) is organizing the Mount Everest Motorsports Festival, set to take place on January 4, 2025. This event is expected to be the world’s first motorsports festival of its kind. The festival will be held at the Himalayan Motorland in Dhulikhel, with support from the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council.
The festival will feature five categories of competition: Autocross, Auto Gymkhana, Karting Cup, Quad Bike Challenge, and a Stunt Show. NASA Nepal has announced that the Quad Bike Challenge will be the first of its kind in Nepal, with rules and guidelines for the competition to be released soon. The Stunt Show will also feature a Stunt Battle, with the specific rules and procedures to be made public.
The Autocross competition will feature modified cross-cars, with participants holding national licenses from NASA Nepal. This will be the first time such a race is held in Nepal.
In Auto Gymkhana, the top two winners will be given the opportunity to participate in international events. The winners of the three main events—Autocross, Cross-car, and Karting—will receive cash prizes of NPR 27,000, NPR 9,000, and NPR 3,000, respectively, along with certificates. The winners of the other two events will receive awards and certificates.
The festival will take place at the Himalayan Motorland, which has hosted motorsport events for nearly 10 years. However, this may be NASA Nepal’s final event at this venue, as the association plans to focus on other locations in the future, including Gautetar in Hetaunda, Surkhet Stadium, Chitwan, Pokhara, and the Kathmandu Valley.
Participants in Auto Gymkhana and Cross-car must have a national driving license, completed Autocross training, and participated in or won national or international events. Competitors may register for two of the five events, with a registration fee of NPR 3,000 for two events, or NPR 2,000 per individual event.
There will be a maximum of 10 participants in Autocross and up to 20 participants in Auto Gymkhana. The Auto Gymkhana event will focus on young students. Only those who have received Karting training or hold a NASA Nepal license will be eligible to compete. Students from institutions such as Kathmandu University, Kathmandu Engineering College, Thapathali Engineering College, and Pulchok Engineering College will participate. A maximum of 20 participants will be allowed in this event.
Additionally, an Advanced Marshal and Event Management Workshop will be held on January 3, 2025 in Dhulikhel. The workshop will cover event design according to the calendar, communication techniques, event management, and practical training.
On the same day, a celebration event for the Women in Motorcycling Award, recently received by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), will also be held. During the event, a Mentorship Program for Youth and Emerging Leadership will be announced.
As part of the motorsports support program operating in Nepal with the assistance of the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and FIM, various equipment and tools will be inaugurated and put into use during the festival.
The festival will have support from the FIA, FIM, Bagmati Province Sports Council, and various corporate sectors. It will feature participation from 60 drivers and 40 technical staff.
For registration related to the event, participants can use the official social media platforms and other channels of Mount Everest Motorsports Festival and NASA Nepal.
