RIYADH: Cristiano Ronaldo scored Al-Nassr’s second goal as the Saudi Arabian side secured a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Neftchi in the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday, following a security-related delay of around an hour.
The match in Riyadh was postponed shortly before the scheduled kick-off after Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence issued a safety warning, prompting a delay of approximately 60 minutes.
The warning came amid heightened security concerns in the region, as Riyadh had been targeted by missiles fired by Yemen-based Houthi forces in recent days.
Despite the interruption, Al-Nassr went on to secure a convincing win, with Ronaldo contributing to the team’s three-goal performance.
The victory came as regional security concerns added an unusual backdrop to the continental football competition.
