Kathmandu — Expressing grief over the catastrophic floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service provider, Starlink, announced that it is ready to support the Government of Nepal and humanitarian partners.
The company stated that as soon as the necessary approvals are granted by the government, it will deploy Starlink kits and launch free internet services in the affected regions.
Starlink highlighted that its satellite services will prove crucial for rescue and relief operations, especially in scenarios where roads, bridges, and cellular networks have been severed due to the disaster.
The company noted that the connectivity could significantly aid search and rescue teams, medical staff treating the injured, and displaced families trying to locate missing loved ones.
According to Starlink, high-speed internet access can be operational within minutes of installing the equipment, provided there is a basic power source and a clear view of the sky.
