Kathmandu – Continuous rainfall has led to flooding and landslides, resulting in the closure of highways and major roads connecting Kathmandu.
Routes including Muglin–Kathmandu, Sindhuli–Kathmandu, and Sindhupalchok–Kathmandu have been obstructed by landslides, cutting off access between Kathmandu and other districts.
According to the Department of Roads, 68 locations on 23 highways across the country have suffered complete damage. Landslides have affected areas such as Muglin–Pokhara, Narayanghat–Muglin, Beni–Jomsom, and the BP Highway in Kavre and Sindhuli. In some places, bridges have been washed away.
The flood has also blocked traffic on the Mechi Highway at Hewakhola and the Araniko Highway at Larchok Bridge. The Department of Roads reports that the intensity of rainfall has decreased, and efforts are underway to clear the blocked roads and establish alternative arrangements. Meanwhile, hundreds of stranded passengers have been rescued from the Nagdhunga–Sisnekhola tunnel due to landslides.
