Kathmandu. A powerful explosion at a factory in northern China has left two people dead and 84 others injured. Five people are reportedly missing following the blast.
The explosion occurred at the Baogang United Steel Plant in Inner Mongolia, causing massive tremors in the surrounding area, according to Chinese media reports.
Videos from the scene show giant plumes of smoke and debris scattered across the ground, including wreckage from roofs and pipes. Among the dozens hospitalized, five are reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities stated that they are currently investigating the cause of the explosion. Baogang United Steel is a major state-owned iron and steel company.
China has a long history of industrial accidents, including factory explosions, mine collapses, and landslides.
