Kathmandu : Popular Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya is set to perform at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, the capital of India’s Sikkim state, on October 31.
According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, the concert has received support from the state government. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, popularly known as Golay, unveiled the concert tickets and Nepathya-branded T-shirts during a major celebration marking India’s 80th Republic Day, the release said.
The upcoming show will mark Nepathya’s fourth performance in Sikkim. The concert is expected to draw significant interest from music lovers, as the band enjoys a strong following in the region. Paljor Stadium, traditionally known for hosting football tournaments, has also developed into a venue for various events.
Nepathya’s music, which blends rock with Nepal’s folk traditions and stories rooted in everyday life, has found a receptive audience across the border. The band’s songs are regularly played on local radio stations in Sikkim, helping maintain its connection with listeners there.
Lead singer Amrit Gurung said he frequently receives warm messages from listeners in Sikkim who have been influenced by the band’s music.
“The enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming concert has further encouraged us,” Gurung said, expressing his appreciation for the audience’s continued support.
Gurung will take the stage with Nepathya’s touring musicians: Dhruva Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboards.
Following the Gangtok performance, the band will return to Nepal for concerts in Itahari on November 4 and Charaali in Jhapa on November 7.
Nepathya is also planning to perform in four additional cities across Nepal after the Tihar festival before heading to Australia in December.
Known for combining contemporary rock with traditional Nepali musical influences, Nepathya has built a wide domestic and international audience through its live performances and songs reflecting Nepal’s landscapes, society and cultural identity. The upcoming Gangtok concert will further extend the band’s musical connection with audiences beyond Nepal.
