Bhaktapur, March 7
Bird flu has been detected in Bhaktapur. Bird flu has been found in chickens of three poultry farms in Suryabinayak Municipality-10. The poultry farms found to have bird flu include Paila Agricultural Farm, Shivaram Kawan’s Shikhar Poultry Farm and Harikrishna Kawan’s Azima Poultry Farm.
The Central Poultry Disease Investigation Laboratory, Tripureshwor, has confirmed the presence of bird flu in the chickens of the poultry farm. According to the laboratory, HP1 subtype F5F1 virus has appeared in the chickens of those farms. A meeting of the security committee held at the district administration office has decided to destroy the birds and bird products of the farms where bird flu has been found.
The committee has decided to destroy the road leading to Araniko Highway with Azima Brick Industry in the east, the road adjacent to Shikhar Poultry Farm in the west, the northern boundary of Arani Highway in the south and the water tank to the north in four forts. District Officer and Information Officer Madhav Prasad Sharma informed.
The committee has decided to increase the monitoring at the entrances of Kathmandu Valley including Bhaktapur as well as at the local level with the cooperation and coordination of Veterinary Services Expert Center Lalitpur, Veterinary Services Department and local level.
