Hilton (NYSE: HLT) is excited to announce the grand opening of Hilton Kathmandu, its first hotel in Nepal. The 172-room property, the tallest hotel in Kathmandu, offers stunning mountain views and personalized experiences for both business and leisure travelers. Located in Naxal, just 4 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport and close to major attractions like Thamel and Durbar Marg, Hilton Kathmandu is perfectly situated for exploring the city.
Owned and developed by the Shanker Group, this hotel represents a significant milestone in Hilton’s expansion in the Indian subcontinent. It blends Nepal’s rich heritage with modern design, featuring a unique glass façade inspired by prayer flags. Rooms range from elegant standard options to spacious presidential suites, all with breathtaking views of the Langtang Valley mountains. The hotel’s design includes floor-to-ceiling windows, a cantilevered entrance, and a temperature-controlled rooftop pool that provides panoramic views.
Alexandra Jaritz, Senior Vice President of Brand Management for Asia Pacific at Hilton, commented, “Hilton Kathmandu is a remarkable addition to our portfolio, crafted to immerse guests in Nepal’s rich history and culture while providing world-class hospitality.”
The hotel’s central location provides easy access to Kathmandu’s vibrant Thamel district, a hub of cafes, pubs, and entertainment venues, as well as cultural sites like the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Durbar Marg.
Hilton Kathmandu is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences with tailored concierge services, collaborations with Sherpas for unique adventures, and personalized wellness programs. The hotel also offers flexible check-in and check-out times, room upgrades, and adaptable event spaces.
Zubin Saxena, Senior Vice President and Country Head for South Asia at Hilton, added, “Hilton Kathmandu marks our strategic entry into Nepal, demonstrating our commitment to expanding in the Indian subcontinent and delivering unparalleled experiences.”
Shahil Agarwal, Managing Director of Shanker Group, said, “Partnering with Hilton to bring this stunning hotel to Kathmandu is an honor. We are excited to celebrate Nepalese heritage while offering Hilton’s signature hospitality.”
The hotel features five dining venues: THE LAVA BOX and HAVA on the lobby level, ASA with live cooking stations on the 13th floor, and ORION, a rooftop bar with panoramic views. LYRA, the pool bar, offers alfresco dining against majestic mountain vistas.
Hilton Kathmandu also prioritizes sustainability with eco-friendly practices, including EV charging stations and a green fleet of electric vehicles. The building is designed to be seismic-resilient with shock absorbers for guest safety.
