Hyundai Motor Company’s award-winning IONIQ 5 has achieved a remarkable feat by participating in a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt for the greatest altitude change by an electric vehicle.
This record was accomplished by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), with support from the Evo India professional team. The IONIQ 5 achieved an incredible altitude change of 5,802 meters. The journey started at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, India’s highest drivable point at 5,799 meters above sea level, and ended in Kuttanad, Kerala, which lies three meters below sea level.
The entire journey spanned 14 days, covering over 4,900 kilometers across diverse terrains and extreme weather conditions. This remarkable achievement highlighted the Hyundai IONIQ 5’s resilience, advanced technology, and exceptional performance.
Throughout the journey, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 demonstrated its capability to handle extreme conditions—from freezing temperatures and steep mountain climbs in the Himalayas to the humid coastal climate of Kerala. This achievement further solidified the IONIQ 5’s standing as a leader in electric mobility.
