Kathmandu, March 4
A meeting of the Central Committee of the CPN-Maoist is being held today.
The meeting will be held in the National Assembly today at 11:00 AM. At the meeting, contemporary politics, local level election preparations and organizational issues will be discussed along with the US Assistance Project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
In today’s meeting, the group is ready to express its views on the MCC agreement and the 12-point interpretative declaration made by the parliament. The meeting will discuss the selection of office bearers, standing committee, and politburo, division of responsibilities of leaders, completion of the central committee, local level elections and the recent political situation, according to the party.
Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Center) held its eighth national general convention on December 26, 2021 to January 2, 2022. Although the Central Committee meeting held in the meantime unanimously elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the Chairman, the selection of office bearers, Standing Committee, Politburo, division of responsibilities among the leaders and completion of the Central Committee are still pending.
Narayankaji Shrestha faction is dissatisfied after the MCC was ratified with an interpretative declaration. The Narayankaji faction has become even more dissatisfied after Dahal, who held a press conference the day after the MCC approval, expressed that the dissatisfied can leave the party.
