KATHMANDU | US President Donald Trump has stated that he held discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the wars in Ukraine and Iran. Trump mentioned that Putin expressed interest in helping to end the ongoing conflict in Iran, though he noted that their conversation focused more heavily on the war in Ukraine.
Trump stated that while Putin wanted to assist with the Iran conflict, he first urged the Russian leader to help end the war in Ukraine. According to Trump, Putin indicated a desire to be involved in Iran’s enrichment process and signaled a willingness to participate if he could help facilitate a deal with Iran.
Trump said, “I want you to help end the war in Ukraine first.” Additionally, he reiterated his stance that Iran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, stating that Putin also does not support Iran having such weaponry.
