Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has instructed to temporarily halt further major military attacks against Iran. According to reports by The New York Times and Axios, Trump issued the order to the US military not to conduct new major strikes following a meeting on Friday with his senior advisors and cabinet members.
According to the reports, US military officials warned that if military operations were expanded further, stockpiles of Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defense systems deployed with US forces in the Middle East could drop to dangerously low levels. General Dan Caine, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, also advised that launching a major military campaign could adversely affect the security of US troops and allied nations stationed in the Middle East.
According to the report, the US had used more than 1,200 Patriot interceptor missiles by the end of last April. According to Axios, it remains unclear whether the decision to halt attacks is temporary or will remain in effect long-term. However, it is stated that if necessary, the US military will remain fully prepared to conduct major military operations once again.
