Kathmandu – Iran has leveled serious allegations against the United States, accusing it of violating a ceasefire agreement. A spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that the U.S. military targeted an Iranian oil tanker. According to the spokesperson, the tanker was en route from the Jask region toward the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran further claims that the United States launched an attack on another vessel near the Port of Fujairah in the UAE. Additionally, Tehran alleges that the U.S., in coordination with several regional allies, conducted airstrikes on residential areas in Khamir, Sirik, and Qeshm Island.
In response to these strikes, the Iranian military reportedly launched an immediate counter-offensive. Iran claimed to have attacked U.S. naval vessels positioned in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz and the southern region of Chabahar Port. Tehran asserts that its retaliatory actions caused significant damage to American ships and has warned the U.S. and its allies that any further aggression will be met with an unhesitating response.
On the other hand, the U.S. military maintained that it successfully thwarted Iranian attacks on three of its naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed Iran launched an unprovoked attack on Thursday while its ships were transiting the area. The U.S. military stated it intercepted the attacks and took retaliatory action in self-defense, targeting the Iranian military bases responsible for the strikes.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that three major American warships safely transited the Strait of Hormuz. He asserted that despite the attacks, the ships sustained no damage, and the Iranian attackers were “completely destroyed” during the counter-operation.
President Trump further noted that small boats used by Iran were sunk during the engagement. He added that U.S. forces intercepted and destroyed Iranian missiles and drones mid-air before they could reach their targets. Trump criticized Iran for not behaving like a “normal country,” remarking that the nation is being governed by radical groups.
The President warned that if Iran does not reach an agreement soon, it will face even stricter military action in the future. He concluded by stating that U.S. warships would return to their naval blockade mission, which he referred to as an “Iron Wall.”
