The Skoda Kialak SUV has been officially launched in the Indian market. This sub-four-meter SUV has been priced at ₹7,89,000 (ex-showroom). Bookings will commence from December 2, with deliveries expected to start by the end of January.
The Kialak bears a resemblance to the Skoda Kushaq, which is already available in the Nepalese market, particularly in its front and rear design. It features 17-inch alloy wheels and is expected to attract attention with its bold road presence, appealing to budget-conscious customers.
The interior of the Skoda Kialak is equipped with many advanced features, including dual digital screens, powered driver seats, leatherette upholstery, connected car technology, ambient lighting, and a six-speaker Canton sound system.
For safety, all variants come with six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounting points for all passengers, headrests, and three-point seatbelts.
The Skoda Kialak measures 3.95 meters in length, with a wheelbase of 2.56 meters and a ground clearance of 189 mm. It offers 446 liters of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,265 liters by folding down the seats.
Under the hood, the new Skoda Kialak is powered by a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine that generates 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
After nearly a decade, Skoda has introduced a compact SUV priced below ₹10 lakh, making this model highly significant for the brand. It is expected to help Skoda reach a new customer base.
The Skoda Kialak will compete with other models in the market, including the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Brezza, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
