Kathmandu- The United States Department of Defense, known as the Pentagon, has reportedly requested a massive budget to fund the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to a report by The Washington Post, the Pentagon has asked the White House to approve an emergency funding request exceeding $200 billion.
Quoting a senior administration official, the newspaper stated that this amount significantly surpasses the costs of all previous military operations conducted against Iran. The primary objective of this budget is to immediately ramp up the production of essential weaponry and precision munitions that have been heavily depleted during the recent weeks of combat.
Over the past two weeks, the Pentagon has reportedly submitted multiple requests for additional funding under various categories. The Washington Post anticipates that this move will trigger a major political standoff within the U.S. Congress, where the scale of the spending is expected to face intense scrutiny.
The military campaign, launched by the United States and Israel on February 28, shows no signs of concluding and is already beginning to have a severe global impact. Most notably, the conflict has disrupted international fuel distribution, leading to a growing energy crisis in numerous countries around the world.
