Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the war with Russia will likely continue into the winter months. Following high-level discussions with American representatives in Kyiv, he noted that no concrete agreement has yet been reached to end the conflict.
The talks involved US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Although both sides described the atmosphere of the meeting as positive and substantive, no major breakthrough or official success toward ending the war was declared.
President Zelensky reiterated his position that direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin remain necessary to resolve territorial disputes. Kyiv maintains that it cannot accept Russia’s demands to seize further Ukrainian land. Meanwhile, the US representatives emphasized that achieving a lasting resolution will require both sides to make compromises.
Prior to their arrival in Kyiv, special envoys Witkoff and Kushner visited Moscow, where they held closed-door discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
