Kathmandu: The ACC Women’s Asia Cup cricket tournament starts this Friday (Today) . Nepal will play against the UAE in their first match.
The Nepali team arrived in Sri Lanka three weeks ago to get ready for the tournament. They played three practice matches, winning one and losing two, as reported by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
Nepal earned a spot in the tournament by doing well in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia last February.
The tournament will run from July 19 to 28 and will feature eight teams divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group A with the UAE, India, and Pakistan. Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The format includes 12 group stage matches, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the semi-finals. The final will be on Sunday, July 28.
Indu Barma is the captain of Nepal’s Women’s Asia Cup team. She is supported by former captain Rubina Chhetri and other important players like Sita Ranamagar, Bindu Rawal, Kabita Kunwar, Puja Mahato, Kabita Joshi, Yakkan Khadka, Kajol Shrestha, Sabnam Rai, Rajamati Airi, Mamata Chaudhary, Kritika Marasini, Roma Thapa, and Dolly Bhatta, according to CAN.
