The government has decided to give regular public holidays for two days in a week, beginning from the upcoming May 15. The decision shall remain as a trial basis.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 26 took a decision to this effect and government Spokesperson and Communications and Information Technology Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki shared information about this today. As the Minister said, the meeting agreed to fix 9:30 am to 5:30 pm as office hours a day and grant holidays for two days in a week.
The decision will certainly affect the secondary market of the country. However, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has said that the stock market will be open from Monday to Friday which will help to implement the government’s decision as well as will not hinder the market.
Krishna Bahadur Karki, CEO of NESPE told Merolagani that the NEPSE will remain close on Saturday and Sunday, however, it has decided to open the market from Monday to Friday to facilitate trading for investors.
