Kathmandu: The *Nanichaya Jatra*, traditionally held on the final day of the Indra Jatra festival, will not take place this year.
According to the Guthi Sansthan Office, the decision was made in view of the nation’s difficult circumstances, security challenges, and humanitarian sensitivities. Instead, a ritual *Kshamapuja* (ceremony of forgiveness) will be performed, while the chariot processions of Kumari, Ganesh, and Bhairav will not be carried out. Other concluding rituals of the festival will proceed as planned.
The Guthi Sansthan has urged all stakeholders to accept the decision with understanding, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage during sensitive times.
Earlier, on Bhadra 19, the Indradhwaj (sacred pole) was ceremonially erected to mark the start of the historic Indra Jatra. On Bhadra 21, the festival was celebrated with dances, chariot processions, and worship of various deities as per tradition.
