Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been sent back to Adiala Jail following a comprehensive medical evaluation. According to Pakistani media reports, a six-member team of specialist doctors examined Khan at Shifa International Hospital and concluded that immediate admission to the facility was not required.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had previously instructed authorities to transfer the former premier to the hospital within two days for a medical checkup and treatment, keeping his health condition in view. While the government sought to file a review petition against the apex court’s order, the Supreme Court’s registrar office raised objections and returned the application.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023, serving sentences across multiple cases. His political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), continues to express concern, asserting that harsh prison conditions are negatively impacting his physical well-being.
