KATHMANDU — The second round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon is set to take place today in the United States. The discussions will primarily focus on extending the current 10-day ceasefire period. According to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, the envoy-level talks will center on halting Israeli attacks, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, the release of prisoners, the deployment of troops along international borders, and the reconstruction of areas affected by the war.
Meanwhile, the proposed second round of talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad has not yet materialized, as Iran has not yet agreed to a deal with the U.S. During the first round of negotiations, Iran had set a mandatory condition that the ceasefire must include a halt to the ongoing fighting in Lebanon.
